Faith Meets Fashion
Vox Sacra, a Seattle-based fashion designer, has taken the “cheesy” out of “Christian” clothing. If this company takes hold, I only hope that the days of Christian shirts that mimic the Budweiser logo with some trite spiritual message slipping into irrelevance. I still cringe at calling anything “Christian this or that”.ÂÂ
I think it was C.S. Lewis that said (and I paraphrase), “We don’t need more Christian scientists, we need more scientists that are Christians.”   Substitute anything you want for “scientists.”ÂÂ
Thankfully, Vox Sacra is putting out some darn good designs — tasteful and clearly out of the mind of a fashion designer. The refreshing thing is that the designs don’t resort to shallow mimicry.  Their originality is clear. Refreshing!
Most importantly, the company donates 7% of revenues (not profits) to the Rafiki Foundation, which helps children and orphans victimized by the AIDS epidemic in Africa. So you can look good, and do some good in the process. It’s a concept that would serve more businesses, and the poor, well.
